On the normal parametrization of curves and surfaces

چکیده
A set of parametric equations of an algebraic curve or surface is called normal, if all the points of the curve or the surface can be given by the parametric equations. In this paper, we present a method to decide whether a set of parametric equations is normal. In addition, we give some simple criteria for a set of parametric equations to be normal. As an application, we present a method to find normal parametric equations for conics. We also present a new method to find parametric equations for conicoids, and if the parametric equations found are not normal, the missing points can also be given. Keyword. Parametric equations, normal parametric equations, inversion map, conics, conicoids, computer modeling.

Radical parametrization of algebraic curves and surfaces
Parametrization of algebraic curves and surfaces is a fundamental topic in CAGD (intersections; offsets and conchoids; etc.) There are many results on rational parametrization, in particular in the curve case, but the class of such objects is relatively small. If we allow root extraction, the class of parametrizable objetcs is greatly enlarged (for example, elliptic curves can be parametrized w...

As for surfaces, there is Noether 's theorem that an algebraic surface S is rational if and only if it contains an irreducible rational curve C with dim ICI >1. Although there exist some techniques t...
متن کاملAdvances in Algebraic Geometric Computation
Algebraic curves and surfaces play an important and ever increasing role in computer aided geometric design, computer vision, and computer aided manufacturing. Consequently, theoretical results need to be adapted to practical needs. We need efficient algorithms for generating, representing, manipulating, analyzing, rendering algebraic curves and surfaces. In the last years there has been dramat...
متن کاملA Landmark-Based Brain Conformal Parametrization with Automatic Landmark Tracking Technique
In this paper, we present algorithms to automatically detect and match landmark curves on cortical surfaces to get an optimized brain conformal parametrization. First, we propose an automatic landmark curve tracing method based on the principal directions of the local Weingarten matrix. Our algorithm obtains a hypothesized landmark curves using the Chan-Vese segmentation method, which solves a ...
متن کاملEpipolar Fields on Surfaces
The view lines associated with a family of proole curves of the projection of a surface onto the retina of a moving camera deenes a multi-valued vector eld on the surface. The integral curves of this eld are called epipolar curves and together with a parametrization of the prooles provide a parametrization of regions of the surface. This parametrization has been used in the systematic reconstru...
متن کاملExploring Expo-Rational B-splines for Curves and Surfaces
We introduce expo-rational B-splines for curves and surfaces and explore for the first time some properties of these new splines which depend not only on their knot vector but also on their intrinsic parameters and the geometry and parametrization of the local curves/surfaces. We consider several examples, discuss some computational aspects, and address potential applications in shape design. §
